Mercury retrograde 2027: three periods, six exact hours
February, June, October. Here is exactly when each begins and ends — to the minute, and here is how those minutes were found.
Mercury does not turn around. It moves forward exactly as it did yesterday — Earth simply overtakes it on the inside track, and against the stars it appears to fall back for a few weeks. Just like a car you are passing seems to slide backwards.

Why there are minutes here and not in our other articles
A station is the instant apparent motion changes sign. You would think that a body which is almost stationary gives a blurred moment. The opposite is true: we are looking for a zero of speed, not of position, and speed near a station changes quickly and cleanly. That is why the hour here is sharp.
The method: take Mercury’s longitude half a day before and half a day after every hour of the year, find where the difference crosses zero, and narrow the moment by bisection — thirty times, down to a fraction of a second. The same six dates and the same signs appear in published ephemeris tables.
Three periods, and the same figure in each
Mercury each time starts backing up in a water sign and finishes in an air sign: Pisces to Aquarius, Cancer to Gemini, Scorpio to Libra. That is not a coincidence and not a meaning — it follows from geometry. Mercury makes three loops a year, each about a third of the zodiac further on than the last, so they stay with one pair of elements for a long stretch.
And honestly about the rest
No peer-reviewed study has shown any effect of Mercury retrograde on electronics, travel or communication. The one peer-reviewed paper that tested such a hypothesis directly — on stock market data, Murgea 2016 — found no support. The dates above are real. What to do with them is everyone’s own business.
Times are GMT. North America is six to eight hours behind, so a station falling in the early hours GMT lands on the previous day where you are. These are not different events — it is one moment on different clocks.
And what was the sky at your minute
The same computation works for the date and time you were born. The first three readings are free, no account needed.
