Uranus, Neptune, Saturn and Pluto change signs: all the dates

Four slow bodies moved into new signs within three years — and every one of them stepped back first. Here are the exact dates, and here is why there are no hours next to them.

In three years the four slowest bodies moved into new signs. Pluto for the first time since 2008, Uranus since 2018, Neptune and Saturn since 2011 and 2023. Transits like these happen once in years, which is why everyone is writing about them now.

Why each body enters a sign three times

Look at the list: Uranus enters Gemini, returns to Taurus, enters again. So do Neptune, Saturn and Pluto. This is not an error and not the planet hesitating — it is the same geometry that makes Mercury retrograde. Earth overtakes the outer body, and against the stars it backs up for a few months. If a sign boundary falls inside that retreat, the body crosses it three times: forward, back, and forward again.

That is why "Uranus in Gemini" has three dates, and all three are true. The first is when it arrived. The last is when it arrived for good — for the next seven years.

Why there are no hours here

This is the most important part of the article, and it is rarely written honestly anywhere.

For Mercury we give you the minute, because we look for a zero of speed. Here we look for a position — a sign boundary — and a slow body comes up to it almost stationary. Uranus covers four degrees a year, which is one hundredth of a degree a day. So an error of one hundredth of a degree in position becomes an error of a whole day in time. Right at a station, more than that.

We checked our figures against published ephemerides. On the Uranus ingresses the difference ran from seven minutes to six hours — the same date, our own hour. On Saturn, which slipped back into Pisces while nearly stationary, and on Pluto, the difference reaches a day: there the dates given by different sources differ by one, and neither is "wrong".

So the table above carries dates without hours. A page that promises you the minute Pluto changed sign is promising something nobody knows.

What they mean

Astrology reads slow bodies as a background rather than as an event of the day: they stand in one sign for years, so they describe a whole generation, not your Tuesday. Uranus stays in Gemini until 2033, Pluto in Aquarius until 2043, Neptune in Aries until 2039.

That is exactly why the daily forecast on this site mentions a slow body in one line at most, and lets the Moon lead: it is the only one that moves enough to make one day differ from the next.
